Years ago I had an ANC-4 noise eliminator, which uses 180° phase shifting to null out noise sources. It worked great. I even used it in my vehicle to completely get rid of fuel pump noise which wiped out all HF.
Anyway, I decided to get one for my recently set up station with a Yaesu FT 891 transceiver.
There is a newer version of the ANC-4, and it has provisions for using the PTT line to switch from trans to receive, which is a safer way of doing it as opposed to the RF sensing way.
The FT-891 does not have a dedicated PTT jack on the back, but I think I can access the PTT another way.
On the back is a 6 pin mini DIN data jack, for connecting to different data modes. On the jack, pin 3 is labeled PTT, and pin 2 is Gnd.
I also got the Yaesu CT-39A Packet Interface Cable, which is specifically designed for this jack and radio. The other end of the cable is 6 color coded wires.
So if I take the wire from pin 3, PTT, and the wire from pin 2, Gnd, and connect them to a plug that works with the ANC-4 (I think it’s an RCA plug) it should work as necessary to ‘key’ the ANC-4 properly by the PTT on the mic. Yes?
I just want to make sure I’m thinking oranges vs. oranges with this alternate route.
Thanks very much in advance!
