Interesting Interference
« on: December 05, 2021, 10:13:42 AM »

I live outside of town in the county and have very little if any RFI/EMI problems but this one started about a week ago.  It only affects 75 meters and is represented by a single spike every 20 khz or so that come on about every 10-12 seconds the go off for a similar timeframe.  They are about S-8/9  and its on 24/7.  Anyone encountered anything like this I have not.  Going to start killing breakers in the house today.  No new electronics in this house...

To me, it sounds like a pulsing from an electric fence.  Has anyone in your area installed one?

It's the Holiday season.  If you put up any decorative lights, start with them.

No decorative lights here but perhaps someone in the neighborhood has them  There are only six homes within a half mile.  I will have to drive around and see what I get with a portable radio... No horses here so no electric fence.

Thanks

I had a similar circumstance while stationed in Canada.  Neighbor's lights were noisy as could be albeit a beautiful decorating job.  However, if you determine it is Christmas decorations, I would offer you live with it till January.  No need to aggravate a neighbor over their Holiday decorations.

There was a DF antenna project in March QST that looks to be ideal for signal tracing on 80m. There is a copy of the article on the DX Engineering web site:
