The volunteer 'Elmer' you seek will need to know more about your communications needs and equipment.
Describe your antenna system, cabling, location, height and directions.
Name the software you want to use to control that radio. and its signalling interfaces like a RigBlaster, Signalink,or other unit.
Tell the 'Elmer' what modes you plan to use; voice, CW, digital, SSTV, FSK, etc.
Make a list of every interconnecting cable and which radio connectors it plugs into on both ends.
Have you read the supplied user manuals for your radio, software, and interface accessories?
You won't learn it all at once, but don't give up without a fight. I started ham radio in 1964 and I am STILL leaning new stuff, because this hobby keeps expanding in all directions.
