Install CHIRP on Linux Mint
« on: December 12, 2021, 09:13:46 PM »

I wish to download and install CHIRP on a laptop that's running a recent version of Linux Mint. My installation attempt failed. Here are the steps I followed:

Click on LM/Administration/Software Manager
Click on = near upper right corner.
Click on "Refresh list of packages"
Type "CHIRP" in search box. Hit Enter.
Eventually, I receive a message, "No matching packages found."

Either I obviously must be doing something wrong, or the YouTube videos I watched are just slight-of-hand. Does anyone know the secret of fetching and installing CHIRP? Thanks.

It looks like CHIRP isn't available in the default Mint (Ubuntu/Debian) repositories. Here is a link showing how to add the repository so the software can be downloaded and installed. Use the first section for Ubuntu PPA.

Here's a discussion from the Linux Mint forums that may help too.
