Jim Stafford W4QO - SK
« on: December 29, 2021, 06:29:55 PM »

QRP-ARCI learned today that Jim Stafford W4QO has become a silent key.  Jim Stafford is a past President of the QRP-ARCI, and is a member of the QRP-ARCI QRP Hall of Fame since 2010.  Jim never missed a FDIM event, so many of you have met and and talked with Jim over the years.  Jim was also named Ham of the Year at the 2010 Dayton Hamvention. One of Jim's proudest achievements was working 100 countries each, on 5 bands, running QRP. Jim is Peanut #1 and one of the founding members of the Northern Georgia QRP Club (NOGA), and in 2014 Jim worked with Mill Springs Academy Radio Club WA4MSA and taught an electronics class where they all built NM0S/Dave's simple crystal radio. They ALL WORKED! Jim was licensed over 60 years, starting out on the family farm in Shelbyville Indiana, Jim went on to Purdue University and earned a graduate EE degree, ending up as a Sr. Manager for Bell South and retiring in 1994.  The QRP community has lost a great advocate and friend.

I am sad to hear this.
Jim was always a very active promoter of QRP operating and QRP ARCI, he will be missed.

This is crummy news. Jim was a giant among the QRPers and will be missed. RIP Jim.
