Wild Times Ahead: My Favorite QRP contact in Cycle 22
« on: January 10, 2022, 01:00:49 PM »

To those who haven't been through a wild-good time on the higher bands during a solar maxima- I offer a video. I've been a ham for 46 years, and in all my years as a ham, that contact could never- and will never, be beat by me.
I'll give just a little info away:
Power output = 2.5 milliwatts
Band = 15m
Antenna = chimney mounted GP, 4 counterpoise wires on shingles.
Other station = you must watch the video and see!
Please watch 'a QRP Story' at  https://youtu.be/ja6e_uISvZ8

My favorite QRP experience was when living in Rhode Island during which time it was easy to always generate a JA pileup with one CQ from RI using 1 watt. The band didn’t matter.

Nice qrp qso, for watts per mile yours is up there with the best of the best.

When the flux is high, qrp is fun,

I have had many notable qrp contacts since 1975 but by far my favorite of them all was a 4 way qrp qso back in 2013 with JL1TZQ near Tokyo (SK 2021, RIP Toji), BV2DQ in Taiwan, ZL2OK in New Zealand and RA0FF in Russia all on 29.6MHz FM with only my Motorola 6 watt MT1000 Handheld with
 the stock 11.5 inch rubber duck and nothing else.

As I said when the solar flux is high and the A and K are low then even 10 meters can be a blast.
