The antenna gain was at 0. Of course when you turn the unit on it will reduce the noise, plus the intended signal.

A cheaper version of the MFJ-1026.

Does anyone know if the MFJ-1026, or any similar device works on 2 meters?

They are very effective units, really. Usually on 2m noise is almost nil so I have never tried there. They are broadband and the fets used I think might work on 6 and 2m. But in these devices there are some binocular ferrites that might be suitable for HF only. I am not aware of something designed for V or UHF. The schematic of QRM eliminators are somehow similar to the the 1026 but different. However both antenna units have no filters. Thus nearby stations might saturate the J310 fets in these noise removal devices. If that happen noise worsen. You have to have a clue of the nature of noise to cancel it out. The funny thing is that radios costing thousands USD with the most majestic filters do not have it built in year 2022. So in the end you buy this unfiltered sort of thing that might overload and place it between the antenna and your top ten radio. This is called evolution!

Got the "definitive" answer straight from MFJ:  "We specify for use hf and below. VHF is not covered by this unit."

MFJ 1026 manual... "The MFJ-1026 is optimized
over the range of 1.8 to 30 MHz."
