The CI-V port on the back with the 3.5mm plug is one type of com port and the USB-B port on the back can have a virtual serial port. I use the USB port for all logging and audio interfacing with WSJT-x and N1MM+ logging programs, and I am not using the CI-V port currently for anything, but I have used it in the past with a simple serial converter cable. In the menu you must "unlock from remote" so the CI-V port is not associated with the USB port and can run different baud rates. The USB port can go to 115200 (which is what I am using) but the CI-V port is limited to a max of 19200.
