DX Engineering

Love this company. All agents can provide great advice. Just bought an FTDX 10 and they matched the lowest price on the internet for about 200$ less. After any large order the CEO sends a personal letter thanking me for my purchase.

Don't send it back for ANY reason least they ban you, been there done that.

CEO sent me letters too. BUT he didn't respond when I showed him TWO offers of DXE credit cards AFTER they banned me. What a joke.

Time will bring out their true colors and then the accolades will evaporate.

HRO buries them on all levels.

I have sent numerous items back over several years with no problems. Just a great experience from here.

Serial returners strike again ;). When I buy something, I research it to the point that it's exactly what I want. No need to return it. Unless it's DOA, which has happened so few times in my lifetime that I can't remember what or when. Maybe I'm lucky, but never a ham radio item (even MFJ ::)).

My experience has been that they stand behind what they sell.

I have done a lot of business with them over the past several years. Some orders were small low $$ -- a coax pigtail or few connectors where I paid the shipping. Some orders were for a major purchase like a radio. All the calls took up significant time with the sales person to be sure I got what I wanted -- to compare alternatives. All were handled well -- careful confirmation of my address -- careful treatment of my credit card security -- allowed me to chose Fed-x instead of UPS since I have a strong preference for them (most stores only ship via their choice not mine). All were successful purchases. On one occasion I got a defective UHF right angle connector. They had me a new one in a couple days no charge no problem. On one occasion I just flat out changed my mind about a radio. They gave me fair and nice treatment and it was exchanged for what I feel was an excellent arrangement. I have also bought from their two main competitors and they are OK but DX Eng is always my go to first choice.

I have purchased $$$$$$$ of equipment, cable, and antennas from DXE and HRO over the years. From my perspective they are both good companies, but who I buy from depends on what I need and when I need it.  My QTH puts me in a 2-day ground delivery location from both for most things when they are in stock. However, if I get my order in to DXE before 6 AM the day before, I usually get it the next day as normal 2-day delivery.  If I’m purchasing major equipment and price and availably are the same, I will choose DXE because I feel that they provide better customer service both before and after the sale. Thus in general, I tend to use DXE more than HRO.

However, for Tubes, Connectors, and other minor station accessories I think that HRO has better selection and pricing.

In the end I think that it is important to shop around.
