Nice to know I can just grab a hot spot and have global communications, who knew?

SSB Ham radio won't work when you get far out. I guess the traffic I heard here in Northern Virginia on Maritime Mobile from the Tonga area must have been a local hoaxer! He capitalized ham for crying out loud.

VHF is the adult version of Ham radio? Wow I shoulda been wearing depends on 40 meters! It seems it's global and all along I thought it wasn't.

Satellite phone, no Middle man! Hmm then how come my Iridium calls to my friends in the next valley go through the Hawaii satellite gateway? That is, when I can get and keep a signal.

I'm just bitter because I missed out on early buy in for Iridium, one of the biggest scams since Dr. Muds elixir.

Oh yeah, it's horrible! To the point of being useless. The time it takes to get my iridium to acquire a LEO satellite and then I dial in the long number sequence the satellite has moved over and the phone has to acquire another LEO. Let me put it another way, if you are in an emergency situation and your life depends on making that call, just as well throw the phone at the threat, you may knock it out or at least distract it long enough to get away.

I work for the government and they issued out over 35 iridium to folks I work with. A year later almost all of them have been turned back in, mine included, due being basically paperweights.

I wouldn't waste time and money

Unless you live in California

They probably would demand a catalytic converter to eliminate the smoke pollution

Maybe "Spot"  or "GO" would work??  Will read more about them.

You're engine will thank you.
No worse for humans than releasing COVID into the atmosphere.
