Little Tarheel II Ferrite control line location?
« on: February 12, 2022, 06:22:37 AM »

The installation instructions say to put the control line's ferrite as close to the antenna as possible.   In my planned installation that would be about 14" from the end of the cable, inside the vehicle.   Does "as close as possible" cover that or do they really mean  'right at the base of the antenna?'

Mine is located about 18" from the antenna base and has been working FB for several years.

Good luck . . .Jim, K4HPP

Thanks, Jim.   I hope that will be the case for me also!
I plan to use a K-400 'lip' mount, which I understand should hold the antenna, but at the location available on the vehicle, the torroid will have to be inside, not out on the exterior body.

The ferrite core is intended to be inside the vehicle, not out in the weather chipping away at the paint finish.

I used one right at the antenna mount and another one at the control box.  The rig was a Yaesu FT-100D @100W in a Saturn VUE SUV and later, a Chevy Suburban.
