spectrum scope satpc32 will not work, HELP
« on: February 17, 2022, 03:16:20 PM »

I can nt get the spectrum scope on satpc32 to work.  Have new FTDI cable (works with HRD).  But not with IC9700.  I have read everything concerning precise settings on the IC9700 to communicate with satpc32 (connectors, CIV) with no luck. Is there anything you might be able to point me at in getting this to work with the spectrum scope.  Without the scope,  the IC9700 works flawlessly with satpc32.
Thanks

To enable the scope function, there can be no other use of the USB port associated with the 9700. Do you have a seperate CT-17 cable connected and configured for CI-V rig control? If not, the scope will not function.

Thanks for reply Glenn,
I do have the CT-17 cable also. I understand I need to use 2 cables USB (A/B) and a CT-17.  does the CT-17 REPLACE the normal USB cable ??

No, it is in addition. The CT-17 connection is used for the CI-V rig control commands while the USB cable is used for the scope display. The SATPC32 software must be configured accordingly.

Glen, can you just email him your settings file taken off of the SD card?

I know on the 7300's you can swap settings over email easily and assume the 9700 could do the same.

To see the spectrum scope on N1MM+ software you have to have the USB connection set to 115200 speed and you can use your CI-V port for other control functions if you want. The CI-V port won't run any faster than 19200.

I would love to do that, James, but I don't have that radio.

Ed - have you downloaded the manual from Stefan Wagener, VE4SW entitled SatPC32 (Scope Edition) and IC-9700, Setup Instructions V1.0? Beginning on page 11, he gives a very nice description of what you need to do for the scope setup.

Yeah, that would tend to complicate the matter.  :)
