W2LPC advertised Icom 756 here and on Mercari.
My first contact with her was via Mercari. I asked her about the display on 756 and her response was: "Read the description!" I sent her my apology: "Sorry, my bad. I read it yesterday and today only skimmed through it. My mistake.". That was all the contact I had with her via Mercari. I first though she had a bad day.
After that I found the same 756, the exactly the same picture here:
https://www.eham.net/classifieds/591326She responded quickly and her responses where again brief, not quite friendly.
When I got the transceiver it was dirty with layers of grim on knobs. Well, I can deal with it. However there was a bigger issue.
The 756's case was damaged with the BNC connector on the back busted. The radio did not sit flat on the desk. The white plastic connector is no longer secured in place. One of the hooks is broken so nothing can be attached to it as it would push the connector inside and push against internal components. After turning the 756 on and off few times the power button got physically stuck. The RX seemed to work fine but I was not interested in TX testing.
I asked her via email why this damage was not disclosed. There was no damage to the shipping box. I asked about a return shipping label but she would ignore it.
I opened a case with Paypal but she would not respond. I had no option but to escalate it to Paypaly to which she reacted with sending me a shipping slip but not a label. I packaged the radio into the original box, documented it with pictures and is sitting here waiting for a label.
This is the escalation message I sent to Paypal:
"I reached out to the seller by email and by using the paypal chat. The seller ignored my repeated request for a returned shipping label. This item is about 25lb packaged so it is not cheap to ship. The seller knowingly shipped the items in damaged condition needing repairs. I should not have any financial loss, should not pay for the shipping back given the seller knowingly tried to defraud me. This was not done by a mistake, the seller's profile online indicate that she is an expert in the field of radio communication."
