Sending voice by USB to Kenwood 590
« on: February 20, 2022, 04:24:43 PM »

I am able to run wsjt-x by sending digital data from my imac to my TS-590 using the usb cable. No problem.

My new project involves porting the voice from a my computer through the usb cable to the radio.

Have any of you tried anything like this? Does the 590 have to be in Data Mode for the usb input to function? Sould I use Data VOX in this situation, or simply hit the send button manually.

You can use the data VOX for that application, and I believe you can do it in USB mode (non DATA) as well, which will allow you to use the processor and equalization.  You will probably have to change a menu setting for audio input to the rear jack instead of the mic jack.

I have used N1MM software to send voice back up the USB cable  into the Icom 7300 or 7610 during contests. It will work fine.

Thank you both. I was trying to get the audio working yesterday, but did not have any luck.  John, were you using a TS-590? I looked through the menu on the TS-590 for a way to tell the radio to expect the audio from the rear jack, but didn't see an obvious setting. It is good to know that you both have had some luck with this!
