Computer audio to TS-590 via Phone Patch?
« on: February 22, 2022, 11:32:16 AM »

In a previous thread I asked about sending computer audio to my TS-590 via usb cable. I am not having much luck, so this morning I purchased a Kenwood PC-1A phone patch. I am going to try sending the audio to the 590 from my computer's headphone jack. (In place of the 600 ohm phone line) My question is what is the output impedance of a computer's headphone jack? And will I have to modify the Line input circuit on the phone patch to get clean audio into the 590. ( see schematic at http://www.radiomanual.info/schemi/KENW_ACC/Kenwood_PC-1A_user.pdf )

The image below is a schematic to sound card interface and switch I built years ago. You might build it and just leave off the switch part. Of maybe the schematic will help you figure out the connections in the phone patch.

On page 11 of the TS-590SG manual, it shows how to use the ACC2 port to connect a sound card to the radio.

Nice work Scott.
Since I have this Kenwood Phone Patch arriving tomorrow, I am hoping someone will take a look at the schematic I posted, and look at the resistor values in the LINE IN circuit.
If these need to be changed to give me a better match, it would not be too hard for me to do that.

Any thoughts on that?

I got the phone patch working with computer audio. I posted in the forums under "Software Defined Radios". Check out what I have been up to.
