Help Me Find my Lost Youth (QSL)
« on: February 23, 2022, 11:38:31 AM »

When I passed my General back in June of 1964 my father and I designed a QSL card (WB2JJV) that looked like a legal document.  White card, black printing, no graphics but text that read like a legal announcement, something like "Greetings, be it know that on" ...... followed by the usual QSL text.  I ran a low power CW station from Plainview, New York and most of my QSL's were in the NY, NY, PA and OH areas mid-60's.

Having no future plans for ham radio, I probably dumped them without even keeping a sample for posterity.  While I have "reacquired" most of my favorite rigs of the era, I have had no luck finding a card despite constantly monitoring the barrage of cards posted on eBay.  I had no idea that so many CB'ers also went the QSL card route.

I recall being rather put out that dad did not let me just order cards from the printers like all my buddies, but he did not like to spend money and always opted for the "creative" route.  The old man lived to over 100 and had a great run.... I finally came to understand that he grew up dirt poor and if he could make it rather than buy it..... anyway if any old timers can scan their wall, perhaps one would still be floating around.

Thanks for reading this and for you youngsters, keep everything!
