Learning/teaching topics for meeting
« on: February 23, 2022, 12:28:49 PM »

I am looking for ideas on topics that I can spend 15-30 minutes on during our monthly meetings. For example we had a session on building a J pole. We also had a session on hooking up a TX/RX switch like the MFJ-1708B. We are a small club and I am looking for topics to educate and inspire the group.

        Thanks

ARRL's new technical editor, KE0OG, has a wealth of YouTube videos that as I understand it are available to clubs....

Hi,

Ground planes are a bit easier to build, easier to tune, and less influenced by nearby objects:

Soldering SMD parts would be another good project to help folks get over their fear of it (it's not as hard as most think it is).

How about an "intro to nanoVNA" session?  The nanoVNA is a very useful & popular gizmo.  Probably at least one club member has one & maybe they would step up for this.

How about going over some of the rules and regs.  Topics like when and how often to ID, band edges, out of (licensed) band operation are a few of the violations that come to mind.

Difficult problem.

I've tried to function as my local club's program manager but it can be tough to find something that interests enough of the crowd.
I have been somewhat successful in separating  topics into three main areas: Technical, operating and Rules/Regs.  Then coming up with 3-4 specific topics in each arena.

I have NOT been able to get members to make suggestions regularly so I am generally on my own. :-(

Our club recently had a presentation of how to make baluns, chokes, and transformers.  it was popular enough that the presenter was asked to do another presentation with more detail and hands on opportunity.
