ATU-10
« on: February 25, 2022, 05:00:52 PM »

fyi: well-built units of this qrp tuner are now available from a large online seller... snagged one, and i am happy with its performance (i have an ATU-100 set for 1W tuning)

the tuner has a stereo jack for connection to a 705... tuner mimics an AH-705 tuner... can be started from the 705 or you can use rf sensing (autotune)

has two built in batteries... unit can be turned on/off... goes to sleep between tunes...

plug it into your pc and drag any new firmware on the mounted device to upgrade... no PIC programmer required

10-15W power limit AFAIK... i stay under 10W... very compact and cheaper than aT1 and AH-705

Looks good but seems expensive...

I don't think $96 is all that expensive.

The Elecraft T1 is over $259. The Icom tuner that goes with the IC 705 is " outch " .....$359.
I think ATU-10 is only $119 on Amazon?
Two weeks ago I found the ATU-10 on Banggood and ordered one post haste. Once I saw the YouTube video about it I knew it was a winner.

Since my last post, I have received my ATU-10 and I am so glad I purchased it.
If interested, half way down my web page I kind of gave it a review.

I was dead set on getting the Elecraft T1, but I'm so happy with the ATU-10, I no longer see the need for one. I can use the ATU-10 with any of my QRP radios that does not have an ATU built in, like my YouKits 4 band radio.

I built the ATU-100 for general use as the Elecraft TI I
built as kit years ago is QRP (maybe 10W) only.

The kitted version of the ATU 100 was OK
(documentation was poor then) but works well.

As to price, look at the various non-kit suppliers of ATUs
and 100$ starts to look cheap.

If you don't need an internal battery the ATU-100 kits are hard to beat.  They routinely sell for less than $30 and a couple of minor mods (one hardware and another firmware) will allow them to tune well below 10 watts.  I have two of them left un-modded and three modded for qrp and they all work great!

Got one recently and compared a few of its characteristics with the manual tuner I still intend to use frequently. I like the ATU-10...compact, small and fast to tune:
