Russian “Buzzer “. 4625.0 kHz
« on: February 28, 2022, 03:27:01 AM »

Last night I found the decades-old famous and mysterious Russian Buzzer on 4625.0 kHz no longer had the familiar horn-like buzz.

As of this morning, it has returned it’s buzz an is back to normal.

Has it ever lost it’s buzz in year’s past?

After 2 years of covid lockdowns and idiots protesting anything and everything I think the entire planet needs one massive Cheech and Chong style of BUZZ.

Although not common by any means, Buzzer, Pip and Squeaky Wheel have all gone silent at one time or another.

I believe pip had the buzzer in background audio once.

And they have all had hot mic moments with people talking in the background.

It is believed that the sound devices are electromechanical and microphone fed.

Interesting you posted this.  A few hours ago I questioned if they where still running during the Ukrainian invasion and had to tell coworkers what I was talking about.

I was going to start a new post, but this thread is close enough,
I wonder if anyone is monitoring the war activity using hf.
Seem that would be too easy to intercept, it would be interesting to
know how communications are handled.

A lot of folks on AR15.com have posted the frequencies and have noted a lot of activity on several frequency's. Also a lot of jamming supposedly from Germans and others.  AR15.com has a 600 plus page thread on the war. Like most other forums there are a contingent of hams and SWL enthusiasts. Many are using Kiwi web SDR's to listen in. Some of which are actually in Ukraine. More info here I got off of AR15.com

I thought Ukraine ordered all hams off the air when the shooting started...
