South America 10 Meter Contest, what are Hawaii and Alaska?
« on: March 07, 2022, 08:10:46 PM »

The SA 10 meter contest runs from March 13, 1200Z to March 14, 1200Z. Do KH6 and KL7 count as U.S.A. or separate DX?

Partial rules:

DX Stations

Contacts with South American stations count four (4) points.
Contacts with other DX stations outside own country, count two (2) points.
Contacts with Marine Mobile (/MM) or Aerial Mobile (/AM) count two (2) points.
Contacts with other DX stations same country count zero (0) points.

Just guessing that they would count as an other country from the US, since that is how they appear on the DXCC and WAE lists.

Hawaii and Alaska are considered separate countries for DXCC.  Hawaii counts as the continet oceana, and Alaska counts as North America.

That is what I though too and am just making sure. The SA 10 meter contest is kind of like a 24 hour version of the CQ WW DX contest, single band. In fact, CQ WW DX contest logging software is recommended. The bottom line for me in KH6 land is I get points for working any station except Hawaii. I am still not 100% sure on Hawaii counting toward zone and prefix mults for me but if I hear another Hawaii station I'll try to work him.

CQ WW DX

The final score is the result of the total QSO points multiplied by the sum of zone and country multipliers.

Contacts between stations on different continents count three (3) points.
Contacts between stations on the same continent but in different countries count one (1) point. Exception: Contacts between stations in different countries within the North American boundaries count two (2) points.
Contacts between stations in the same country have zero (0) QSO point value, but count for zone and country multiplier credit.
