Just guessing that they would count as an other country from the US, since that is how they appear on the DXCC and WAE lists.

That is what I though too and am just making sure. The
SA 10 meter contest is kind of like a 24 hour version of the
CQ WW DX contest, single band. In fact, CQ WW DX contest logging software is recommended. The bottom line for me in KH6 land is I get points for working any station except Hawaii. I am still not 100% sure on Hawaii counting toward zone and prefix mults for me but if I hear another Hawaii station I'll try to work him.

Contacts between stations on different continents count three (3) points.
Contacts between stations on the same continent but in different countries count one (1) point. Exception: Contacts between stations in different countries within the North American boundaries count two (2) points.
