Anytone AT-779UV frustration
« on: March 08, 2022, 06:29:50 PM »

Hello All -
Will someone please help me with this small 2/440 transceiver? I just received it yesterday from a dealer in LA after being told by another ham that it could be used like a regular dual bander. Then why is it that I can't even seem to figure out how to select a PL tone so that I can access a local repeater? The skimpy manual is little help and there is no obvious procedure to use for this. I also get the impression that it is "pre-programmed" and not like a previous rig I had, the Yaesu FT-7900R.
The receiver seems fine and I am hearing local repeaters loud and clear. I would just appreciate some advice as to what I am doing wrong or where I can get some more definitive info about how to operate this unit. Luckily, there is a 30 day return policy. I'm hoping that I don't have to use that
as I basically like the rig and that fact that it would be easy to move back and forth from my station to my car.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

This is software programmable.
Many of these chinese radios have dual modes.
One mode is "proffecional" mode where almost noting is programmable on the front panel.
The other mode is a "HAM" mode that lets you program almost everything.
The change between the two modes is normally done in the CPS (config software)
Check what cables came with your radio if your lucky it came with the prog.cable.
The software can can be downloaded on http://www.qx-tele.com/
If you  dont have the cable you can install the CPS and see if you find something about profecional, ham, VFO mode.

If you see the review on the mikolor website you will see that on the first firmware you wont be able to change the tone.
