Unfortunately, Charlie between NPN, PNP, FET and country of design there is no standard. Do you have a part number?

Oh - I see the part number is in the subject. That doesn't track in any of my databases. Are there any other markings? Are some letters above the others?

God runs electromagnetics on Monday, Wednesday and Friday by the wave theory and the devil runs it on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday by the Quantum theory.

I just found it - an NPN transistor. If you put the flat side down and the pins toward you, from left to right: Emitter, Base, Collector.

I have a couple of cheap "component testers"; one is like this;

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/282848259867?hash=item41db11ef1b:g:Lg8AAOSw4MVgq8AE

and the other is like this;

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/234462535940?hash=item36970e6104:g:yyQAAOSwdeRiLHJt

They are useful for quick checks of components (Is this resistor 1k or 10k?) and also do a good job of identifying semiconductors and their pin-out pattern.
