As a PS, the WINKEYER interfaces with a USB connection to my computer with contest software, which also enables me to send CW with the computer keyboard.  The Winkeyer  can also send CW directly to your transceiver if you do want the computer in the circuit.                    Rick  KL7CW

Good to know.  When I run the amp on 10m my PC freezes.  I've tried torroids galore but nothing works except cutting the power way down.

What kind of PC do you use? I have a lot of problems with RFI disrupting the PC in various ways. I've tried multiple laptops with little success, then switched to a desktop and most of my problems went away. Laptops are in plastic cases which offer zero screening. Most desktops are in metal cases which can offer significant screening in both directions. Bond the PC case to the shack RF ground with a reasonable braid secured under one of the case screws, then decouple all the cables connected to it with ferrites close to the case end. This should give you a significant boost in RFI immunity.

I think we are drifting off topic a bit, but I will tell you about RFI to computers in my situation.  I only run 100 watts on 160 through 10 meters but have had no trouble with my transmitter getting into my computer.  Over the last 2 decades or so I have used several laptops and several different desktop computers.  But the most important fact, I think, is that my antennas for 40-10 meters are on top of a 60 foot tower about 60 feet from my shack.  They are all balanced antennas with proper baluns. Most devices are connected to my computer via bluetooth or WI-FI, with no long ethernet cables. If you use end fed or OCF antennas there could be more RF in the shack.  On 80 and 160 meters various antennas are somewhat closer, but perhaps I am still lucky. I have no idea what would happen if I ran an amp.  If your antennas are closer to your computer, this could be part of your problem.

When I browse this thread, I realize how lucky I am. At 71 I am not without some RA pain however I am still 100%. Reading through these stories makes one understand just how important health is. It's bad enough to suffer pain but then to even lose one's hobby to a degree really makes it tough. 73 to those who suffer. Rich

I had a PFO/stroke about ten years ago that left my right thumb and forefinger numb - still dexterous, but the skin is numb.

I use a blend of keyboard and iambic - keyboard for 20+, and the iambic up to about 18. I don't second guess my strategy one bit.  But I am looking to upgrade my paddle during the next year and see if I can boost my speed.
