Xiegu G1M 5 watt radio. Anybody have one ?

I picked up one about a year ago and never fired it up.

OK. Finally got it connected to DC. (careful here...connect -+ out of order the unit fries.

Instant a problem. Why do I not learn ? Chinese.

(#1 -- the microphone connector wobbles off the circuit board of many many units --
The power cord and the connector it plug in. Mine is shot. Cord just wobbles there.

So DOA for another Chinese radio.

Have to at least see what is bad.

QUESTION ?  What are the screws used to keep the cabinet together ? At least NOW am not sitting on all kinds of 'tools'. Screws that are indented ?

PS..not going to show 'screws' but the manual for this radio. Manual ? Zilch in my unit. At least something to describe the buttons and knobs and what they do..etc.

OK..After looking through 500 million pounds of stuff found a common hex screwdriver set. It seems the screws of cabinet are metric 2mm. Some are very tight so might want a key set with a handle etc.

Otherwise anybody else familiar with this radio ? Power connection ? Microphone Connection ? It seems there is a YouTube video over replacing the mic connection. I have yet to have a failed mic connection but suggest adapt something so your not pulling or stressing the mic connection. As to power connection ? Mine was new out of the box....

ooo-took the thing apart.. gotta observe the wires as connected to speaker as easy to pull them loose..

Got a connector in there for DC that if I can connect to + could just run a 12/13v wire in there. I love radios dangling taken apart and trying to operate them. The DC connector for some reason with the DC plugged in it does not seat well in there but with the cabinet taken apart it seems to seat in there a little further maybe allowing operation without constant on/off from bad connection.

Gotta observe better because unless into micro stuff it is not an easy ' just replace the connector'.

Exciting...

Just bought a Xiegu XPA-125B as I saw its reduced price and even MFJ seeming to get rid of them. By looking at YouTube seems many have no problems with it.

The following link shows low bands poor output but higher bands not bad.

Chinese. Every part is unique. Unique made to fail it seems.

With endless QRP stuff a 100 watt amp useful.

Ordered a QRP radio from that Indonesia place. Read endless bad reviews and it seemed quality control was terrible. OK--simple circuitry for the price but reviews had everything falling apart from DOA to everything just unfinished business. No quality control.

On my order on Ebay I added zero negative but did state PLEASE QUALITY CONTROL. Check it prior to shipping. This was the Email reply. Again..said zero negative !!!!! I said nothing about AUDIO. I wanted it for CW.

to me

Sorry, we decided not to sell our radio to you. (Please check your order on eBay)

Because we also feel very bad to see your attitude as amateurs are very embarrassing. If you see a bad review about HBR4HFX#1 you can ask us before buying. we can explain it with an argument.

Regarding audio problems, we have made a video for IF adjustment, but it is also if you have the adequate ability on the radio. And we doubt this.

Thank you, please no longer contact us and don't buy in our store.

Seems they even removed the item from their site. Strange.

To observe your radio and signal as to antenna dabbling try wandering around with a portable radio. Very low power.

Not a bad portable

Tecsun PL-360   Replaced by the Tecsun PL-368 that might have something improved but if you like UNIQUE lithium batteries go for it.

I was surprised at it is quite good AM Broadcast Band 530-1700 khz and Shortwave not bad. Last time I saw it it was $100+

Enough. Not selling anything nor affiliated with anything. Keep tuned. Maybe can find a schematic for the Xiegu Amp ?

I went to the above post and edited and this place would not post. SUBMIT and nowhere.

I am guilty of misinformation !! I possess a version of the 360 by CountyComm that was SSB mode. You would want SSB for amateur radio listening. As to Chinese Versions it is/was a 360 version. The new 368 seems to have SSB. Otherwise the 360 I have from Tecsun is a pretty good receiver for a portable. Hard to find for $50. (unless the Chinese modified something)

There is the Tecsun PL-365 with SSB.

Otherwise for $50 the 360's I have from Tecsun are worth it.

Misinformation. As said I have PL-360 with SSB but 365 is the present version. -- and 365 an upgrade that needs a unique lithium battery.
