Icom CT-16 with IC-271/471 combo
« on: April 04, 2022, 12:23:10 PM »

Good afternoon!

I want to use a CT-16 with an IC-271/471 combo.  The instruction sheet gives dip switch settings for a 275/475 combo.  Are the settings the same for the 271/471?  If not, does anyone have a diagram for the proper settings?

The CT-16 DIP switches are used to set the VHF and UHF radio CI-V addresses so that the CT-16 can communicate properly with both radios.

Both the IC-271A and IC-471A must have the ICOM UX-14 CI-IV to CI-V Converter (or an aftermarket clone like the PIEXX UX-14PX) installed. The hex address of each individual radio is set by the DIP switches on it's installed UX-14 module.

The DIP switches on the CT-16 are set to the same positions (radio hex address) as the DIP switches on the IC-271A and IC-471A UX-14 modules.

See the "PRE OPERATION" section of the CT-16 manual and in particular item (3) in that section.

Here's a link to the ICOM UX-14 Instruction Sheet.

Section (3) - Satellite Operation and Table (5) - Radio Type Setting contain good info.
