QRZ where did everyone go?
« on: April 11, 2022, 04:36:00 AM »

I am waiting for spring and just finished restoring my second harvey wells tbs-50 while working on the first of my two Johnson Viking 500 transmitters and power supply.  My only real issue seems to be finding a match for the Johnson FADED front panel brown-ish paint for touch up,  tried making many formulations without success.

It seems that the boat anchor forum has gone quiet, cant believe that there is not more activity here before warmer weather arrives. Enjoy Woody

Hi, I tried to send a pic here but it seemed futile. I just repainted a Viking Ranger cabinet and used Rust 0oleum "Kona Brown" (pn: 330438)  Gloss. Got it at Home Cheapo. Just make sure you lightly sand and wipe with lacquer thinner to remove any oils.  Good Luck

You can't upload pictures from your computer here. You have to put them somewhere on some Internet web site and then point to it.

Here's an example of something:

I have used kona brown, BUT i just found a can of johnson maroon from ebay, and it matched very well, so I can do a touch up and then add several coats of clear lacquer to level the surface, and then buff it out.  Good to find things hidden in ones own shack, Woody N4MQ
