what is harder to work with???
« on: April 26, 2022, 09:40:20 AM »

I just finished two Drake TR4Cs and it brought back memories of working on KWM2s with those "dad-blamed" turrets.  I think its a tossup on which are worse to troubleshoot and repair although I give the "knarly" edge to Collins.
Either way each has its downside....

FYI, the TR4Cs are like new now and work great!

Just an observation.

Yeah,

I also have a TR-4C and a KWM-2A

In addition to your observation, I give the quality "edge" to the Drake!

The complex relay switching in the Collins makes it hands down more difficult to troubleshoot.

My friend and former coworker Greg, W8XY (ex Drake engineer) sold a TR4-CW plus MS-4/AC-4 for an SK's widow a couple years back. This at one of our local 'fests.

I won't post the selling price. Some folks here would cry.
