microphone for FTdx560
« on: April 30, 2022, 09:23:06 AM »

I'm trying to figure out what a good microphone would be for my radio, FTdx560 that I'm recapping and attempting to refurbish.

I cannot find information on the original. I'll need to study the mic input circuit I suppose to  understand what it expects.

I found a mic on Ebay which is in my price range that might work as is, or be modifiable. What do you all think ??

Be careful, you need a high impedance mic. for that radio.  A Shure 444 or 450 or 522 would be perfect.  Yaesu ,ad a unit back in those days but I don't see any of them around any more...

OK, I'll try to figure out what impedance it wants. I think electret types are typically around 600 Ohm.

That radio wants a 50K mic impedance, trust me.

I've used both a D-104 and a Shure 526 with my 560.  Both worked well...
