Hamvention

With hams being hams and stuff like "NO CODE LICENSES will be the DEATH of ham radio" how long will we continue to call Hamvention "Dayton" and not Xenia or Green County?

Well, strictly speaking, it’s the Dayton ARA Hamvention.

So the name fits.  And it hasn’t been in Dayton proper for decades (HARA was in Trotwood).

So consider it Tradition, and move on.

Actually I agree.  DARA is still hosting Hamvention so yes, it's still "Dayton".
And I call it Dayton even though it's been in Green County for a number of years and I know that HARA is no longer even standing.  Which is a shame.  Made the trip to Trotwood MANY times for many years in a row. And I am looking forward to Xeina this year as well.  Hoping for no last minute COVID outbreaks.

It's always gonna be Dayton,,, and I am ok with that.

Have to miss this year. Still not able to drive that far since Covid. Have fun for all those that are going!

I've tried contacting DARA/Hamvention via email, havnt gotten a reply yet, my question is,  will ARRL be there to check cards and accept applications for awards?

One of the 20 tables:

DXCC Card Checking, ARRL Contests and Awards, The ARRL Logbook of the World (LoTW), and QSL Bureau.

First Hamvention since before Hara closed.  Of the 3 remote parking locations, is there one to prefer/avoid, or just listen to the talk-in for guidance?

Use Xenia High School.  It's easy to get to and is only a 5 minutes bus ride; about the same distance as the Salem Mall lot from Hara.

Yes, and the weather is looking good.  If rain were in the forecast, I would park off-site again, at Xenia High School.

From the few live streams I have found I would guess attendance is down. It's hard to even find a live stream.

The flea market area was great and lots of good stuff to look at. I really enjoyed the event.

The flea market area felt just as busy as the last hamvention in Xenia.

It did seem weird to not see a big Kenwood display area. Lots of people checking out the Icom, Yaesu, Flex displays.

DARA did a good job, the shuttle from the free parking area was smooth.
