Yaesu Repair Recommendations
« on: May 29, 2022, 09:10:58 AM »

Good Day,

I'm looking for recommendations on a repair facility for a Yaesu FT-2000 transceiver. The "MOX" switch failed and needs to be replaced. I have read many negative comments regarding the Yaesu repair facility on the west coast and would like to explore other options if there are any.

Thanks in advance & 73,

All front panel switches are mounted on a PCB.  You might look for a front panel replacement board.

Malcolm Technical Service in Washington State.  Give them a call if you still need them...

Yaesu repair in CA is fine. I had my FTDX-10 repaired. 3 week turnaround including mail time from FL and back.

Scott at MTS has retired.  Might want to try Tim Moes at Midwest Technical Services in SD, or Cal at www.hamrepair.com in TX. I think there are a few repair places in Florida and Georgia that work on Yaesu that might be even closer to home for you.  N4ATS comes to mind as one.

It is possible to replace individual components on circuit boards.

I used him twice on a couple of ICOM HF rigs, and would use his services again in a heartbeat.  A gentleman who knew his stuff for sure.  I'm sure that he has retired, deservedly so, but IMHO a great loss to the ham community.

Not a Yaesu, I had a few bad switches on a Kenwood 930. I found a board on Ebay. Make sure you test the switches before installing. I think out of the 4 2 were good. It solved the problem with the antenna tuner. The Hakko desoldering tool made the job quite easy. One of the best tools I ever purchased.

Tim Moes @ Midwest Technical Services is a great choice.  See reviews at Eham and they are right on.
