Glad you showed up. The cable you are selling as an amplifier keying cable in the title does not work correctly per two hams using it as an amp keying cable. As you stated the title is clearly NOT ACCURATE. You sell a tuner cable. Yaesu states not to use the tuner cable as an amp keying cable that you advertise as such.
There is no excuse to advertised it as such and offer a low price on eBay. You sold me an item that does not work then refused a refund. Nothing more to say beyond false advertising and selling an item that does not function correctly as a keying cable as you state.

I have ordered a few cables now from Dan and never had a problem.

Maybe if you had contacted him first before placing your post, you might had better luck. Calling him a crook after a misunderstanding is a little harsh.

Dan keep up the good work, others are enjoying your products.

If he simply refunded this post would not exist. I am glad you had good luck with him, I did not. The title of item is clearly deceptive as it is not an amplifier keying cable as stated in title. eBay is reviewing his post and may remove it as deceptive. There is a reason eBay refunded me directly.

Not dishonest at all. After reading his ad, you received exactly what he described. He is a very honest, reputable seller.

eBay emailed they are either making Dan change the listing title or remove it completely. Is eBay wrong? Dan is advertising a cable in title he is not shipping.

So what’s the technical issue with this cable ?
Dan states can be used as an amplifier keying cable. Two hams reported causes issues with their radios that need resetting all the time using the tuner cable. When same hams switched to a true amplifier relay keying cable issues went away. Yaesu tech stated the tuner keying cable cannot be used as an amplifier keying cable as Dan states. And, ebay emailed me stating Dan has to change title or have ad removed. eBay and I state Dan is deceptive despite all that has supported him and dismissed my complaint.

I’d like to see more technical detail other than saying it doesn’t work.

Is that the wrong jack in the radio to use? Is it the wrong pin?  How is it that it works for some people and yet not recommended by the manufacturer?

Pay no attention to this rubbish. I've bought from Dan and so have some of my friends. No problems whatsoever. I'm sure that he would be most helpful if needed. Enough said.

Is that the wrong jack in the radio to use? Is it the wrong pin?  How is it that it works for some people and yet not recommended by the manufacturer?

To give some technical context, the "key" line is brought out on both the 8 pin tuner jack and the 10 pin linear jack. The Yaesu term for a "key" line is "TX GND".

The 8 pin tuner TX GND and the 10 pin linear TX GND signals are schematically similar. Both are driven from the internal "TXB" signal and each has its own 2SD2403BY in an identical open collector configuration. They have similar heatsinking on the PCB as well.

What is ironic in relation to this thread is that the 8 pin tuner TX GND signal is better conditioned from an RF perspective than the 10 pin linear TX GND signal! The tuner TX GND signal includes a ferrite bead for RFI suppression and an additional bypass capacitor on the base of the open collector driver.

So with no additional data, I would sooner key the linear from the 8 pin tuner jack than the 10 pin linear jack as it is likely to be more RFI immune.

I see that there are two threads on this same topic (grrrr....), so I will cross post.

Thanks Glenn for the tech info.  So what could be Yaesu’s ( and the OP’s) gripe, then, I wonder.

I didn’t want to say anything about the cross-posting.

Thanks Glenn for the tech info.  So what could be Yaesu’s ( and the OP’s) gripe, then, I wonder.

From a Yaesu perspective, sometimes giving someone something to change is sufficient.

From the OP's perspective, I am hoping my technical discourse will help calm things down.

In any case, I always recommend wrapping control cables a couple of times through a Fair-Rite type 31 core as a bit of insurance against RFI problems. This is especially prudent when QRO is involved.

Tnx Glenn W9IQ for the detail on why the 8 pin connector is not only just as good to use as the 10 pin but as your explanation shows, even a better choice to use the 8 pin instead of the 10 pin!
Not that this explanation will get N8FVJ to admit how wrong he was in coming after me for providing a perfectly operating amplifier keying cable described accurately in the ad description.
Anything further from him outside of an unconditional apology is just more stubbornness in holding to his position.

100+ buyers all are busy enjoying their radio to amplifier with my cable.
Tnx to all for your kind words and support!
Also tnx to Mike N2MG for watching out on this thread.

read my post of two hams having trouble and Yaesu's quote not to use as a keying cable. I trust Yaesu.
