« on: June 03, 2022, 09:30:04 AM »

Not normally stumped like this however does anyone know if it is possible to use this Kenwood TK-7150  Trunking radio for standard FM repeater use?  Too good of a radio to retire.  Thanks for looking. K4MMB

That radio is capable of conventional with 128 channels or LTR with the same and it covers 136 to 174 MHz so if you can program it then it will work fine on 2 meters.

I set one up years ago for a friend who used it as a 4X4 racing/off road radio.

I have a LTR Handheld in the same series/model which was introduced around the same time that the mobile was introduced to the market and it works fine on conventional frequencies as will that mobile.

What I like about that Kenwood is that the scan features are more advanced than those in the Motorola mobiles that I have.

In my Motorola's the scanning is very limited to a single zone/bank of channels with no scanning between different zones/banks whereas in the model of Moto radios that I have only a single zone/bank of channels may be scanned and even in these the number of channels in a bank that can be scanned is also limited, yeah thanks stupid dumb lazy Motorola programmers.
