Hello all,I have a Yaesu FRG8800 Rx here taht hasnt been used in a while, whern I turned it on last week I had to keep moving the Squelch knob to keep the radio alive,I had to keep adjusting it and it sounded scratchy, then the sound went dead, now and again it comes alive for a few seconds, the signal meter is alive and the screen is lit up but no sound, the sound is alive on FM but no other mode,it also needs a new set of display bulbs, has anyone any ideas,is this a squelch circuit problem.

thanks de EI5GUB Richard.

Richard,

Most cases of intermittent operation after periods of non-use stems from dirty/corroded controls.  If I find any control "scratchy" I do a housecleaning on the whole unit which includes PCB plugs, sockets and grounds.  Research what electronic cleaning products are available to you.  This usually is a staple in any ham shack.
