Just revived my Azden PCS-7000H 2m rig after being out ham radio for a few decades. Now I am using it for base station work as I really don't want to get involved in a newer car installation. Browsing through the user manual and monkeying around with this unit, I can browse around to see if any frequencies are active. Not much so far. So I looked up a repeater directory for NE and found a few listed repeaters nearby. I also see that some of them list an offset, while most do not. I assume that for the 0 offset repeaters I can make a contact, tx & rx, on the same frequency. The offset I'm not sure about how to set this rig up for that mode of operation. About the hand held microphone, I can see the up/down, Tx, and the squelch buttons, but I have yet to figure out how to use the main keypad on this unit. I kind of though that it would be used to enter a frequency directly, but that is not so. Although I am an extra class I feel like a novice and have currently made it back to 20 wpm for my CW work which is what I mainly do for DXing.
