« on: June 22, 2022, 11:49:52 AM »

Rules   http://www.arrl.org/field-day-rules

June 25, 1800 UTC to June 26, 2359 UTC

The two significant rules changes are:

1. Class-D/E home stations can work all classes for credit

2. The maximum power limit is now 100W for all classes

OMG when did they change the rules?

We were all set to take the class A motor home with the US tower 107 foot portable COW and the SteppIR DB-42 and the OM Power 4001 up to the mountains in Cloudcroft, NM.

Forty meters is our love.

The guys at the Space Alien Ham Club in Tularosa will be crushed.

Well, at least our wives will prepare a great lunch and dinner.

I powered up my portable generator, threw manual switch and house was on emergency power. So, went 1E. But, can't run AC on the portable generator, so did short sessions, then turned power back on to cool the upstairs for my wife!

Was nice not having 1.5kw 1D stations hogging good run freqs! I also like that the FD exchange is history-file and auto-fill proof. ARRL FD is the best training ground for new CW ops - actually have to copy the exchange...

Made 318 CW Qs with my K3 and 135' OCF dipole/Windom at 45' in the trees. Forgot to check 6M where at least I work the big W3AO effort most years.

I did work two station that were class H somehow and 1 op who was in the ZZ section no matter how many times I ask AGN?? Since he was an 8, I think he was sending MI MI run together and someone explained to me that Winter FD has class H.

Well, it was hot and humid this year. Bands weren't that great, but made lots of contacts on 80m CW over night. Even managed to work Ecuador on CW, which was a blast!

The whole crew was together, had a great time, and ate VERY well, as is our custom. Even fed the visiting park ranger some dinner on Saturday night. We now have a new fan of "Andy's famous chili". He said he'd be back for another helping next year (just like the last park ranger did - 3 years in a row!).

In terms of score, we'll probably be somewhere in the middle of the pack for class 5A. It is safe to say that at least at our site, a good time was had by all.

Can't wait for next year!
