Mansfield summer hamfest
« on: June 15, 2022, 02:22:02 PM »

I wonder with gas prices at an all time high if it is going to effect turnout at this years hamfests? I would like to go to Mansfield to sell a lot of small stuff but it may make more sense to stay home? Any thoughts? Mike

If attendance at Hamvention is any indicator, I don't think Hamfests are suffering from high gas prices.
Turnout at Hamvention was within a few hundred of pre-pandemic levels.
And gas wasn't much less expensive a month ago than it is now.

I suppose it depends on how far you have to drive to Mansfield, and what you're driving.
My car, a 8 year old Ford Fusion gets 35 MPG on the highway. So 2 gallons there and 2 gallons home at $5/gal
and it's only $20 in gas more or less. Not bad for a day of fun at a hamfest in my opinion.

As always, your mileage may vary...literally in this case.
