Vanco SWR-1 Manual
« on: June 27, 2022, 01:33:14 PM »

All, I just purchased a Vanco SWR-1 Meter at a garage sale for $1.  Although it probably qualifies as a Boat Anchor I just couldn't pass it up.  Does anyone have a manual for it that you could scan or take a photo?

Thanks and 73, Maurice. KK6BXO.

It appears to be a standard "monimatch" design.  Put in between radio and antenna.  Throw switch to forward, key transmitter and adjust for max on meter. Switch to Rev and make meter reading. 3.5----150 MHz with 5% accuracy (maybe).
Test with dummy load for antenna.

Lafayette, Radio Shack, Midland, and maybe a dozen other companies sold the same meter under their name. Very common.

Thanks everyone, especially AF5CC for the most appropriate video link.

Just ordered a manual from Manual Man!

If you're in a rush, I have a .PDF copy of the complete manual I can send you via e-mail. It's for the Lafayette equivalent SWR bridge but it's the same meter with the same instructions.

I had three of those Vanco SWR meters and sold them at a tailgate meeting. They are designed for CB radio and have I think a 10 watt power limit?

Actually, these SWR  meters were good for several hundred watts with roughly 1KW PEP max. 100 watt rigs should be no problem

True accuracy varied with frequency.  But you got a good "dip" when sweeping the band.
I still have one... and the box.
