Need help with Hotspot
« on: July 04, 2022, 12:34:08 PM »

So I have the Yaesu FTM-400, And ordered a hotspot from Karl at DV Mega. He wants to set PiStar up for me, and wants my SSID and PW. Well I'm using it mobile, with my Android cell phone. I can't find the SSID he needs. I downloaded a program that shows everything, for SSID, says n/a.

I'm no expert on this topic, that out of the way, is you cell phone setup as a WiFi Hotspot?

I don't know if it's the same with every Android phone. On mine, I go to settings, Network & Internet, Wi-Fi Hotspot, and both the default SSID and password are there.

iPhones are a PITA sometimes as a hotspot.

I got a standalone MiFi hotspot and have my Pi-Star comm with it.  $10/month and no headaches.

With an iPhone, you usually have to be displaying the Personal Hotspot screen when you try to connect to it, otherwise it “goes to sleep” to save battery power.

I use an iPhone with a hotspot a lot, no issues for me.
