I am also interested to see how the FT-710 will actually be once on the market and which will be its features and performance.
I am currently thinking of a cheap HF 100W transceiver to improve my station (only FT-818 and dual band FM handheld so far) and at today the IC 7300 is on top of the list...
If I understand the Tokyo ham fair was last weekend, but no updated news on the FT-710 still around the web. Could it be that Yaesu missed this event to reveal their new rig?

Is this going to be a direct sampling radio, or a hybred design like the FTDX10, where roofing filters are still used?  Nothing from what I can see clearly suggests one or the other yet.

The FT-710 AESS is an SDR (like the IC-7300) and not a hybrid SDR like the FTdx-10. It does not have narrow roofing filters like the FTdx-10 but does have amateur band bandpass filters. An important feature the FT-710 AESS for me is CW APF.

Not a hybrid? An SDR like the 7300??? The important feature for me is the Direct Digital Synthesizer that "enables phenomenal Multi-Signal Receiving Characteristics". I want that DDS !!!!!!

I am hoping they fix shortcomings in the FTDX10 in the new 710, like averaging for the scope and continious bandwidth control in all modes, not just fixed wide and narrow filter choices.

Everyone seems to want averaging on the scopes of the 101 and 10 and Yaesu does not seem to be able to do it in those radios, but maybe they can in the 710....

And one of the major advantages of sdr designs is the ability to have very good filters and being able to make them as wide or narrow as you need or want.

I thought the radio would be here in September, I just googled the ft 710 and in the search listings giga parts has in the minor text of the search results $999.00 not in stock, when you go into giga site  there is the radio with no mention of any price.

I spoke with an HRO salesman three days ago (7 Sept) who told me that the FT-710 has now been released in EU. We should start seeing reports soon from those users...

I heard (read) sometime in September.
But with the chip and supply chain issues, maybe optimistic?

Apparently, the FT-710 was given FCC approval on 2 September, so it shouldn’t be long here in the USA.  If Giga has the pricing correct at $999, then it’ll be $100 less expensive than it’s arch rival the IC-7300.  Assuming it is at least a slightly better performer than the Icom, which it should be since Yaesu had 5 years to study and best the icom, it should do well at this sub $1K price.  It’s great seeing competition giving us hams better products for less $$.

6 years to study and beat the 7300 as well as newer chip designs to work with. It had better be better than the 7300. :)

The 7300 was way ahead of its time and was/is an exceptional value.

Just guessing but I suppose the 710 will handle strong signals a bit better if its anything like the 10 or 101,
and just like those radios the fidelity should be better then what the 7300 delivers.
While everything else is very good on the 7300, the frequency response is very limited on RX and TX.
Most don't care on a communications radio but for AM use and SWL the 7300 is very restricted.
The 10 and 101 go 50 to 4000 Hz TX I think and wider on RX.

We’ll it looks like the new price is out.  Both Giga and HRO just updated their pricing on their webpages for the FT-710 … $1,299

I can’t see how Yaesu can compete with the 7300 at this price.  Hopefully they’ll only have this initial price for a short time to take advantage of the gottahavit crowd before prices start coming down.  I would think that maybe after Christmas it will settle down into the $1100-1000 range which would allow it compete effectively with the Icom - and get me to buy one.

Surely it all comes down to a combination of performance and features, doesn't it? $1,299 is only $150 more than the 7300 - less than 10% difference. That is not going to impact on sales provided the radio performs accordingly.

With the FTDX-10 at $1400, and the FT-710 at $1300, both 100W HF/6M transceivers…very strange Yaesu marketing strategy.

Indeed... The specification of the FT-710 seems to be inferior to that of the FTdx10 in most, if not all, respects, so it is difficult to see why they have released it.

Their price points go against all normal retail marketing of “good, better, best” offerings. Would make more sense if they had the ‘710 or ‘10D (not both) at $1200, then something new at $2200, and the ‘101D at $3200…with logical upgrades as you climb the price ladder. A $2200 price point radio would be a nice compromise that no other manufacturer offers. At the present $100 difference between the ‘710 and ‘10D, they’re just gonna “cannibalize” each other.

I don’t get it, but what do I know ;).
