It is/was $1300.00 plus tax and shipping.

I see no reason to buy that radio unless it was $600.00 as a backup radio or something.

Its number 4 on the Sherwood list under the FTdx 10!

…Which is 10 spots above the Elecraft K4D. You can buy almost five FT-710’s ($6,500, free shipping) instead of one K4D+tuner+shipping ($5,950+shipping) ::).

K4D does a LOT more then the 710 though.
Or it will when its done.
The Sherwood list is a ranking by one particular spec, which may not matter to most.
Anything on the first two pages is likely good enough for almost anyone....

Well...I would HOPE it does a LOT more ;D ;D. It's the "when it's done" part I don't get. Elecraft has had literally years of development/testing between its introduction and actual deliveries. I've read that there are still bugs/fixes needed to various functions. I like purchasing items that are "done", without beta testing for the manufacturer, with  software updates every month or two. For $6,000, I'd expect a finished product.

Sdr radios never eed to be finished.
Icom and Yaesu do updates, radios like the old Flex 3000 and 5000 are still getting updates like pure signal and many other things they did not have/could not do when new.

I realize that. I'm talking about "done/finished" in respect to all current features/functions as specified working properly on delivery. Any SDR future updates should be for new additional features only.

Flex5000 does Pure Signal? I guess that's predistortion?

I am unsure if its in the KE9NS software, they have added a lot of stuff including taking the 3000 to 192 KHz bandwidth display and pro audio tools and diversity.
But I have not had one for a long time.

Its just software so easy to add.

Nothing on the KE9NS software for pre-distortion for the 5000, I wish though.  I've heard of one ham who made a hardware solution for it though but it's never been released or commercialized.

Anyone have the FT-710 on the desk yet and formed an opinion?
