Free Flag Counters
« on: July 12, 2022, 01:40:44 PM »

My flags won't display with Firefox browser when viewing my QRZ.com page. All I see is a link for free counters. This has been going on for a year or two, maybe a little longer. I figured it is the result of security upgrades with the browser. But when I view other pages with flags using Firefox, some display flags and some don't.

When using other browsers, Chrome will display my flags. Edge won't display them, and Dissenter won't show flags nor the flag counter link. But Dissenter is great for sites that don't like my ad blocker.

This is the source code for the flag counter at QRZ... <a href="http://s06.flagcounter.com/more/0c62"><img alt="free counters" src="http://s06.flagcounter.com/count/0c62/bg=FFEFD5/txt=000000/border=003300/columns=6/maxflags=248/viewers=0/labels=1/pageviews=0/" /></a>

If I copy and paste the following directly into Firefox browser, I can see my flags. Don't understand why they won't show at QRZ.com except when using Chrome.

Any ideas?

<edit> Changed http in the above links to https and nothing changed.

My firefox returns "! Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead" "Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to flagcounter.com.  If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your password, emails, or credit card details."

My dissenter returns "! Your connection is not private" "Attackers might be trying to steal your information from flagcounter.com (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards)"  NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID

It's an "HTTP" site, not an "HTTPS" site.

Got a new widget from flag counter, and it's now https. Stuck it on my QRZ page below the old flag counter, and it works with Firefox. Only I'm down to one flag, and that one was me. Don't know of any way to restore my old country flags. I'll remove the new counter later.

This is how the old and new flag counters appear with Firefox...

With Dissenter, neither flag counter was displayed. They both worked as they should with Chrome. With Edge, this is what appeared...

Went to a couple of other sites where the flag counters were being displayed with Firefox. Noticed when I clicked on the flags, got https protocol. When I checked those sites with Dissenter, nothing was displayed. With Edge, all that was displayed was Flag Counter as in the pic above.

So the bottom lines appears to be a new counter will display your flags on Firefox and Chrome, only you'll lose your old flags. Don't know about browsers other than those mentioned here.
