Failure to program Yaesu FT817ND using Chirp
« on: July 21, 2022, 12:59:03 PM »

Hi,
Every time I try to program my FT817ND using Chirp, I get this error message. [ An error has occured-Failed to communicate with radio: Radio did not ack block0 ]
I can upload from radio, but not download to radio with changes.

Has anyone get any suggestions, on how to solve this please?
Cheers, Camerart.

Quickly looking at Google.  Are you using some kind of bluetooth wizardry?   That seems to be a bug in Chirp.   Also if you're not using bluetooth are you using a genuine  FTDI cable with the genuine driver?    This user was using bluetooth and went with the FTDI cable and it worked fine.   Well after he tried three knock-off cables.

Dump the free junk and purchase the RT Systems software for your radio.  It works.

Hi,
Good idea, may do that if Chirp never works.

I never understood the thinking of buying the $30 radio from Amazon and spending ANOTHER $20 for a cable to program the radio with FREE software that I keep reading may or may not work.

Spend the money and buy RT Systems software.  IT WORKS!

Hi All,
I can get Chirp to program every time now, but there are still issues.

Yes, I could buy the suggested always working program, then what would I have to do all day :)
