Ok I fiddled around with a few switches and have radio working well on 80m and 15m ham bands,CW and FT8 are booming in,however I'm hearing Broadcast bands down at 7.1mhz,does this mean the alignment is out, there's a good video on YouTube about bringing one of these back to life, thanks again to all for the help

I'm by no means an electronic whiz, but have found over the years of restoring old gear that often times just unplugging and reinserting connectors on a board or the plug-in board itself will cure a problem. A little contact cleaner (wipe off the excess) also can also help.

Make sure the Preselector control is peaked properly within the 40M range. Its indicators are color coded and the user manual tells you how,

Very good!

Amazing how quick people are to judge & blame sellers. This is the very reason that many honest, legitimate sellers no longer sell on eBay....

That VFO (and the ones used in the FL-101, FT-101 series) incorporates a temperature compensation trimmer. It's accessible from the top of the VFO enclosure.

Study the service manual for an FT-101 for the procedure used to adjust this component to null drift. I own three of these receivers (two -D and one -S). When warmed up, they pretty much stay put.

Hi all, sorry for delay in replying and thanks for all the help and advice, yes I will lookup the manual or Internet about the trimmer on the VFO,it needs a good cleanup of the Potentiometers and other switches and the connections on all the boards,I bought a Yaesu FRG7000 the same week and it is a very good reciever for its age,the audio off it is excellent
