Most likely the clock needs to be set.

I use JTSync.
http://www.dxshell.com/jtsync.html

I can synchronize to a DX station who's clock isn't set.

Try closing and restarting WSJT-X. I have had to do that before to bring back receive on it.

Check the com ports; Windows updates sometimes re-name/number them.

Happens to me too.  My computer's clock sometimes wanders.  I follow W1VT's advice and use JTSync, usually at the start of each session.  It's easy to match another station's time error if it's necessary.

Happened to me today on computer and radio combination number 3 on Windows 10. The other two were working fine and I went to put on the 3rd computer and 3rd radio (7300) and no waterfall, no decode.  I checked the audio tab on WSJT-x and it showed correct audio codecs but is said NOT FOUND..  Well that is just great. A computer and radio reboot did not fix the problem. Windows device manager showed the audio codecs were "working" ...

So I changed the audio codec in WSJT-x to the default of the computer audio soundcard. of which JT alert screamed bloody murder about having your wsjt-x codec the same as the JTalert soundcard.  yes that would be a problem.  But I done it anyway, and then closed WSJT-x and reopened it and changed them to the correct codec and all is well.

Ain't computer interfacing grand?  Windows had done an update.  I don't know why wsjt-x would not pick up the codecs, but my "workaround" fixed the problem.  Give it a try.

That's not the 7300 - it is a bug in the Omnirig configuration file - get the latest Omnirig config and it will work fine...

NOT the fault of the 7300.. that is a software issue. .  Also look on WSJT-x and see what the

File>Settings>Radio tab, under Mode is set to Data/Pkt.

When you get this running 100 percent, be sure to make a copy of the radios configuration on to its SD card and then transfer the settings folder onto your computer in a safe place, and/or put it in your cloud storage if you have any.

My findings is the rig doesn't seem to change settings, But it never hurts to have a perfect backup of the rigs settings up in the cloud. That way you can always restore that rig or any replacement to the proper settings in seconds.

If you get lost in any of this call me.

I use one of those small "hockey puck" USB GPS receivers for accurate time. There are a couple of free and paid programs available.  A must when camping with no phone or internet service. Also, use in the shack.

It is good to write things down on paper.   As we get older it becomes even better. :)

My WSJT-X update wish list:

1. I wish it would let you run in the radio's memories and not insist on switching the radio to the VFO. Would make 60 meter operation much easier for radios that only have 60 meters open in memory channels.  Most radios have to be modified to run FT8 easily on 60 meters.  The Kenwood TS590 is one of the exceptions.  Out of the box it will transmit on the 60 meter frequencies in VFO mode.

2. I wish WSJT wouldn't insist on moving the VFO back to the "standard" FT8 frequency when making menu changes, like switching between F/H mode and normal mode.  I wish it would keep you on whatever frequency the radio was on.  Not too big of a deal if you are in front of the radio, a much bigger pain if you are operating remotely.

Both of these should be easy fixes in the WSJT-X software.  Not sure what advantage having these omissions currently have for operation.  Maybe I am missing something.

Most of my problems are ME. I’m just not familiar with ft 8 or the other modes. Need a guide for dummies. 7300,probably the easiest
