If you suspect a wandering clock, get Dimension4 and install. Never again will your computer clock be the suspect.
Your trouble sounds more like a port problem. M$ updates sometimes mess with them so you have to check that first.

Probably the second most common problem involving Windows 10, WSJTx, and amateur operators is hams setting their (Signalink) USB) audio interface devices to either the DEFAULT or DEFAULT COMM options.  DO NOT DO THAT!!
Default is where Windows sends any unassigned playback audio, instead of going to the computer's speaker, and the default recording device is Microphone, which hears and tries to decode any noise in your shack such as phones, pets, other radios, cursing, etc.
Default Comms is usually grabbed by Zoom, Skype, or other communications software which then randomly will modifies your previous level adjustments and other settings.

Which can be particularly confusing when you are running FT8... Most of us will leave the RX audio turned up a bit and WSJT-X, taking input from the PC microphone, can hear the received signal - often well enough to decode the strong signals, at least. But any other noise in the shack can interfere with it...
