Japanese Solid State Amplifier
« on: July 25, 2022, 09:20:21 PM »

I have been looking at Bear Electronics amplifiers for probably 8 - 10 years now. If you appreciate "big boy" tube amplifiers (along with great build quality) check out  http://www.bear-el.com/ They are now building solid state amplifiers. If you are interested in running a 8kW SS amplifier on 2 meters here ya go:  http://www.bear-el.com/conby/

It's probably only a mater of time before they start producing SS amplifiers for HF. All text is in Japanese so you will need to use Google Translate.............Lot's of pretty pictures!!!

8 KW on 2 meters!  That would be fun!  You should be able to hear your own echos off the moon with that.

800W 2 meter amp for 258.000 Yen is not cheap at almost $1900 USD.

But boy are they all pretty cool looking.

The innards of those tube amps is quite nice. The front panel looks just like the HV power supplies we used in the 1980s.
