C4FM Fusion-using an amplifier?
« on: August 05, 2022, 06:07:34 PM »

I saw a friend selling a Mirage B 2516G amp for $50. Is C4FM friendly to this amplifier?
I'd be using a FT-70 or a FT-3D

I see that they want $550 for a FTM-400. Holy crap!

It's a bit of overkill, but the amp doesn't care if it's analog or Fusion or DStar, etc.

For other modulations used on amplifiers designed for FM you must if the T/R switching is capable of keeping up. DMR can not use regular T/R switching because of the timeslots. C4FM I'm not sure about.

That amp can be run in a non-linear class C (FM) or a linear (SSB) mode.  However, the the T/R switching can be a problem.   And there are also repair issues.  Have you planned on a power supply? With 160w output you will need a hefty supply to power it!

It is a linear amp, makes no difference if the modulation is AM or FM.
