Current conditions
« on: August 09, 2022, 01:18:31 PM »

I've just put my station together after a six month absence, and I find the SSB phone bands almost silent during the day.  The stations I hear are weak.  Is it conditions, or should I start troubleshooting?

Conditions have been very poor. I'm on now, 2:30 MST, and I only hear a couple of stations on SSB and the same on CW.

The A index is 31.   I have never seen it this high before. Wait a few days.

Just last November it was a LOT higher !!!  And then just a few days later the conditions on HF were great..

Dr. Tamitha Skov has a great explanation of the A index.  She says it has nothing to do with amateur radio and everything to do with climatology.

Start about the 37:00 mark of this video for an explanation:https://youtu.be/Beo_nKUoN7Q

Nothing to do with HF radio and everything to do with climatology?
Has dear Dr Skov awoke and gone green?

KC2TRX, band conditions in nevada have been mediocre at best most of june and july. Hopefully cycle 25 improves because as of now nothing spectacular here in northern nv.

I would say conditions have improved greatly in the last couple of days.
