HW-8 Tuning Dial illumination
« on: August 14, 2022, 07:59:35 AM »

I don't know if anyone has messed with these or has tried this but I got this idea of illuminating the dial of the HW-8 with one LED filament. The type of LED filament you see in LED light bulbs  Got 10 of these coming:

Looks like they will fit just right in the gap between the lid and inner front chassis. And the gap between the front chassis and front panel is just right to allow light to illuminate the tuning dial.  No drilling of holes needed. A little RTV or hot glue should hold it in place.

Keep you posted.

I just use ordinary white LEDs to illustrate the panel meters in my home brew equipment. The current drain is minimal and white LEDs are cheap.

I used dial lights from 3rd Planet Solar on my HW8.  Work the treat.

after messing around with filament LEDs and  plexiglass, I stumbled across their LED assemblies on EBay while looking for some other HW-8 stuff. Price was extremely reasonable so I bought a pair.  Installation was a breeze. They look excellent.
