Renewing My Access To Qst?
« on: August 14, 2022, 04:26:15 PM »

I can't get a coherent method to regain access to QST. My name and password are rejected.   OK, then I Re-Register and I am told I can't TYPE in my password. But there are no instructions on an alternative. My subscription to QST seems ok. I assume I have to go thru some FCC process. Seems excessive.

It's a safe bet the FCC has nothing to do with accessing your QST account.  Sounds like the ARRL may just have your sign-in data incorrect.  A call to their subscription department could shed some light on your issue.

Doesn't it have a "forgot password" option where you put in your email and they send a temp password to use?

I went through a similar situation back in May, when I changed my callsign.  It took a couple of days and a couple of password resets, but it did eventually fix itself.

What browser are you using?  It seems that their new software works with some browsers but not others, at least for me.

If I were a betting man which I'm not I would say you're using Firefox browser.    Which is why I switched to the Brave Browser.  Firefox let me down too many times trying to sign in to sites and pay bills etc.   It's not all that and a bag of chips like some say.

Ever since ARRL started using that silly log-on system, I've had to refresh the page in order to log into the site with Safari on my iPhone. The system seems to generally work OK from my desktop on Firefox, but having said that the site appears to be down as I type this (08:41 UTC, 15th Aug).

The ARRL site itself is very poor and awkward to navigate, it needs a complete rewrite.

They just did a revision of their webpage and it's still awkward to navigate.

The ARRL website most certainly does. They already have your email from your previous sign up, and if you have forgotten the password, they will send a temp password and once in you can change to the password of your choice (as long as you follow their password security rules)

Had the same problem today.  I did the reset password about four times.  Once I finally got in, using a "one time password,"  I couldn't reset it to the one I wanted.  It kicked me out, so I then call the membership number listed.  I was on hold for a half hour, then gave up.  I tried one more time (never give up) and was able to get in after doing the reset password thing again.  After all this I'm wondering if my membership fee is worth it???  They must have revised something on their site as someone indicated.

When they did the revision, e-mails were sent to ALL the members giving instructions about how to re-register for the website. I followed the instructions and got in immediately with no difficulty. It's operated normally ever since.

For a hobby that is as technical as amateur radio, it amazes me how many hams can't navigate a simple website.
